NIH Requiring Manuscripts to be Deposited in PubMed Central
April 14, 2008Researchers receiving grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) should be aware that new requirements are in effect as of April 7, 2008. Principal investigators must ensure that all peer-reviewed research manuscripts accepted for publication on or after April 7 are deposited in PubMed Central (PMC), NIH’s digital archive of journal literature. Beginning May 25, 2008, anyone submitting a grant application or progress report must include PMC or NIH Manuscript Submission record numbers when citing articles published as a result of their funding. The Prior Health Sciences Library staff has developed the Prior Health Sciences Library Scientific Publishing web site, which provides information about this new requirement, as well as information on the resources available to assist OSU researchers in complying with the requirement.
