Funding & Research Development

Research development at The Ohio State University is a collaborative effort between faculty and the Office of Funding and Research Development (OFRD). Office staff consult with faculty to help clarify funding needs, search for funding opportunities, and create alerts to provide information about new and updated funding opportunities. They also support faculty in working with sponsors, locating collaborators, identifying interdisciplinary research possibilities, and working with other Office of Sponsored Programs departments.
In addition to providing campus access to the Community of Science (COS) database, which provides online information about researcher expertise, funding opportunities and funding alert services, OFRD maintains internal databases that provide the university with specific information about certain programs. These include limited submission programs (where the university is limited in the number of proposals it can submit), notable programs (funding opportunities that OSU researchers should definitely apply for), nomination programs (prizes and awards), and homeland security programs (funding that pertains to homeland security issues).
