The Office for Business & Industry Contracts (OBIC) staff provides assistance to principal investigators working with business and industry sponsors. OBIC staff work exclusively with sponsored research projects involving for-profit organizations with the goal of providing a consistent contractual process that facilitates effective university-industry relations.
OBIC staff assist OSU faculty with pre and post-award administration of industry related projects and industrial subcontracts under government sponsored programs. These activities include
- preparation, negotiation and execution of contracts
- project fiscal administration, tracking and monitoring
- proposal preparation, budgeting, and pricing strategies
- enhancement of the university's overall relations with industry
OBIC staff work in partnership with Office for Technology Licensing staff to ensure consistency across the terms of research contracts, material transfer agreements, and confidentiality agreements as well as to ensure optimal intellectual property terms in sponsored agreements .
